Vocalist Jacqui Hicks and pianist John Critchinson have been working together for some 6 years in Quartet and Duet formats and their music programme is a mixture of new arrangements of classic and modern standards from the American and British 'song book' to which John adds some 'classic' Ronnie Scott humour.
They are currently promoting their new CD With a song in my Heart (33 records) featuring their regular musicians:
Dave Green - Double Bass
Tristan Mailliot - Drums
Jacqui Hicks - came through Leeds College of Music, via NYJO and in 1992, she joined funk band Shakatak and has since toured the world with them. Her debut solo album Spellbound (Hi-Hat 2001) received excellent reviews and her latest CD with John Critchinson's Trio, proves Jacqui's talent as a gifted singer of both standards and jazz music.
A singer of warmth, poise and intelligence, whose smokey voice is a pleasure to listen to - Yorkshire Post.
